Yamaha YPT-210 review
In this review, we shall take a look at the Yamaha YPT-210 keyboard. This portable keyboard, introduced in spring 2007, is suited to beginners. If you're looking for a cheap electronic keyboard for a child or student, you can probably start with this one.

Features of the Yamaha YPT210 include 61 full size keys, 32 notes of polyphony, portable grand feature, stereo speakers, headphone jacks, and the Yamaha Education Suite. The keyboard also comes with as many as 375 instrument voices. These include a stereo grand piano, XGlite voices, 12 drum kits and a sound effects kit.
If you're looking to buy the Yamaha YPT210 keyboard for a beginner or student, you won't go wrong with a feature such as the Yamaha Education Suite. This feature actually teaches you how to play the keyboard and contains several lessons for each hand. This means that when the teacher is not around your child will still be able to make use of much needed practice. The Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S) features exercises, interactive lessons and a chord dictionary.
I also like the importance placed on piano in this keyboard. As with many other Yamaha portables, the Yamaha YPT-210 has an ever useful Portable Grand button. With one press of the button you get a pretty amazing stereo grand piano voice, for a keyboard of its class. So no matter what settings you may have on, returning to piano mode is quick and easy. This is great for practice.
Yamaha's auto accompaniment feature has always been a favorite of mine. With such a feature, you can play an instrument sound with the right hand an operate an entire orchestra of instruments with the left hand. You can change chords by simply pressing one note at a time with your left hand. There are 100 built-in styles such as rock, reggae and country.
The Yamaha YPT210 is computer compatible. With the use of General MIDI, your keyboard can communicate with other keyboards, MIDI instruments and computers. This is your pathway to the Internet, a must-have in the world of today.
The YPT-210 is great for someone on a tight budget. Retail price is about 100 bucks. With Yamaha keyboards you usually get what you pay for so if you want something better you've got to be prepared to spend more. At the end of the day it's all about your particular needs. If all you want is a basic portable keyboard, by all means give the YPT210 a try. Go here to learn more about the Yamaha YPT 210 keyboard.
