Yamaha psr-8000 single finger settings

by david Scott
(UK)

on the psr 8000 is it possible to change the single finger settings, IE on my technics if I press for example the C note then also press the black key to the left I get the C minor chord, if I then release the black the chord heard returns to the C chord. But on the psr 8000, when the black key is released the C minor chord remains ( even though I am only pressing the C key)

any help would be great

Dave

PSR 8000
by: Alfred

Dear Dave: Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the PSR 8000, and much less with the Technics unit to say how they compare. My suggestions with respect to Initializing the Yamaha unit are based on what I know of most PSR's. I am presuming that removal of your finger from the black key should have allowed you to revert to the major chord. You can continue "experimenting", but whatever you do, DO NOT CONSIDER OPENING THE KEYBOARD. Painful as it may be, it is preferable to check on the cost of repair BY A COMPETENT TECHNICIAN if all your efforts fail. I tried my best to be of assistance. Good luck.

still no good
by: David

Hi Alfred, thanks but still no good. I assume from what you are saying that this is not normal for the PRS-8000 and that it should be the same as my technics keyboard, IE when you remove your finger from the black key but keep a finger on the white key the chord should revert to the major chord, is this correct ?

Thanks

David

PSR 8000 Single Finger Chording
by: Alfred

Dear Dave: OK, and thanks. Now try total Initializing. Press top white key (as before) but add top three black keys (simultaneously).
If this does not do the trick, consider having your unit checked by a reliable and qualified service tech. I much prefer such action to any (hazardous)attempt to open the keyboard. Regards.

Factory reset didnt work
by: David

Thanks Alfred, tried factory reset ( top white key during power on), but it has not solved the problem.
I am unsure if it is normal for this model or if it's just my unit. I only get one finger chords when "auto acompanyment" is switched on, then if I press both the C and B FLAT keys I do get a C MINOR chord, but if I then release the black key and keep the C key pressed then the chord remains C MINOR, to get a C chord I must release the C key and repress it, is this normal ?
Regards

David

PSR 8000 Single Finger Chording
by: Alfred

Dear Dave: ONLY IF YOU HAVE NO RECORDINGS STORED in this unit, try Initilizig it to "factory" condion. This may solve your problem. Do me the favor of posting a follow-up comment in this Forum if you are successful. Other participants will benefit. Thanks.
