Yamaha Psr 900 lcd problem

Dear all

My two years old psr 900 has recently stuck with lcd problem, two vertical line appears on the screen with different colors.
The authorized service dealer states that i would cost more than 500USD to repair it, why cant i spent very less than 50USD and buy a portable lcd , and use it with video out function, what u say??

Hi Binu,

Yes you can use your video out to feed an external TV (in AV-mode) or an LCD screen to solve your problem. Many people do that to feed a larger karaoke-screen.
However, I can't speak for your dealer or Yamaha as we are not connected to them in any form but I would send a letter complaint to Yamaha. It seems quite often that the build in screen of these models go bad and in your case after two years..... You can expect a longer lifespan of the Yamaha products and I have heard in several cases that they have replaced the screen for free or minimal cost even outside the warranty time.
Send them a copy of the invoice, the model and number and everything what is relevant.
Give it a try I would advice, you can only win.
