For Sale.. Yamaha psr-6300 mint condition
by: Dominic

I have a Yamaha PSR-6300 keyboard.
Recent family member handed it down to me. Located Bedfordshire UK.

It was used as a hobby of my late grandfather. The instrument is like new no damage.
It comes with a foot pedal, and some type of cartridge in unopened packaging. There is also a set of headphones that look of good quality.
And some type of recording device.

Please send any queries or offers to my e mail

Thanks

Yamaha PSR-6300 keyboard for sale.
by: john

I also have a Yamaha PSR-6300 keyboard.
As I am not a musician, I have hardly ever used it and only attempted to play it at home as a hobby. I don't know what it is worth and if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands. This instrument is like new. Look forward to any replies. Thanks.

Yamaha PSR-6300

by Carlos Montenegro
(Tampa Fl. USA)

After a few years in storage seems to have affected the unit.
When I turn it ON, all the board from the middle to the left light up and the display 888 shows.
Sometimes when I hit the ON-OFF switch in certain way the display shows 1 or any other number and the same lights from the meddle to the left light up.
Any one with ideas?
Could be a bad switch or a bad cord. Where do I buy those? Where do I get a repair manual with part #.?
I want to fix it and give it to my grand kid.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Carlos

Where is possible to find a service manual for PSR-6300 or only schematics for the power supply board?

That pesky bridge connector
by: drykid

Just got one of these for a bargain price (sold as faulty.) When I switched it on it was just the same voice whatever buttons you pressed. Some buttons made other lights come on in a seemingly random manner, but didn't actually change anything. Took it apart and found same issue as a previous commenter - the bridge connector in the panel section needed resoldering. If you open up the panel section (the service manual that can be found online helps a lot here) then inside it there are two large PCBs with a really flimsy bridge connector in the centre joining them. On mine the connector looked ok at a glance, but on closer inspection some of the metal contacts had lifted from the solder and were just resting on it, or not resting rather... A quick bit of soldering was all it needed to get it working 100% again.

Also if you need a power connector (like I did), then this is just a standard C9 connector used by quite a few companies. I found one online from someone selling power leads for Revox tape machines.

I love the sounds on this thing! If mid-to-late 80s sounds are what you're after, and you want something with everything built in so you can just make stuff up as you go along while you jam chords, then this is perfect. Great key action too.

Keyboard Fix
by: Anonymous

I recently found one of these keyboards one the side of the road. When I turned it on the right half of the board flashed, and the keys played sounds (albeit stuck on one setting). Debug mode pretty much did the same thing.
I took the whole keyboard apart and buried underneath the circuit board for the console lid was a little bridge of connectors that was broken. A little soldering put it back together and now the keyboard works great.

Could it be the self test mode ?
by: Pericles

It looks like you have some key permanently making contact, in a way such that, when you turn the keyboard on, it thinks you are pressing one of these keys and enters the test mode (almost all Yamahas have this secret, some sound permanently sounds, and a number appears at the screen, for each different key or button you press. To enter this mode, turn keyboard on while pressing C1 or C6 in some models).
Try hitting a bit the extremes C1 or C6 before you turn keyboard on.
You may have to get the inner rubber contact sheet fixed.
It's difficult to find one, an it's expensive.

Similar problem with PSR-6300
by: Nadajnik

I have just got 6300 with similar problem! The upper part of the synth does NOT function! Sometimes, when I hit the power switch certain way - all lights go ON, but it still does NOT work!
I can get sound, but only one preset, which looks like piano/strings/organ mixture, but I can NOT make any changes!!!
I did clean all connectors bringing wires to all boards (three boards in main body and all in upper part) - but it did NOT help at all! All fuses are OK! I put some contact cleaner into the power switch, suspecting that there might be multipole connector with some of them not working properly, but without any success as well! I do not see any lithium battery and I am not sure, if there should be one??? Any suggestions????????
The keynboard is in excellent shape and I would like to bring it to life!!!
Thanks in advance for any tips! My e-mail address is mjr_nag@earthlink.net!

Missing power cord for Yamaha PSR 6300 Keyboard
by: Anonymous

I have contacted Yamaha and was informed that they no lonnger supply the cords for the PSR 6300 key board. However, their technician advised me to have a repairman of equipment such as this, do away with the factory plug-in and tie an extention cord to the wires on the inside.

This model can be connected directly to a 120 volt AC outlet which is standard in most homes. No transformer is needed. I proved this out by taking a Christmas light connector where there is a male and female connection as a part of it. I whittled it down so it would fit in the recess and enlarged the openings to accomodate the the prongs on the back of the keyboard. That left the male prongs on the outside where I was able to plug in a standard extention cord and then plug the other end into the outlet on the wall. It worked and I had power for the instrument.

Lost power cord
by: Anonymous

Like some other people out there, we purchased a Yamaha PSR 6300 keyboard at an estate sale which appears to be in excellent condition, but lacked the power cord. If anyone knows where one can be purchased, let us all know. Another question I have is that since there is no batter pack and it has a 120 volt AC rating on the back, does this mean it can be connected directly to an outlet without a transformer?

Lost our Yamaha PSR-6300 also
by: paul

Hi
We have lost ours as well and when we find a solution we will post on this site.
One advice given to us was to get an electrical person at a PA repair site to make a plug to fit and the other was to replace the plug in the keyboard to a common plug.
We will keep posted and keep and eye out on your page.

Yamaha MIDI keyboard floppy drive

my son's Yamaha MIDI keyboard has a floppy drive which they don't make for computers anymore. How can I use this keyboard without a CD slot? Most new Windows Vista computers are not compatible with even an external floppy drive. How can I use the floppy drive in my son's keyboard or computer.

transpose style file on floppy without saving to internal drive

by KEN
(naples fl)

hi

I am trying to transpose style files that i have on a floppy disk.
Can this be done on the floppy disk without saving to the internal drive on keyboard?

What i'm trying to do is use style files without having to use the registration memory to keep them in the transposed key.

I am able to transpose changed style files to registration memory for a gig disks but i fined that they must remain in internal style file to be recalled is there away to use these styles in there transposed key without being in internal memory?

My problem is that i got spoiled playing everything
in the key of C.

can you help me

transpose styles
by: Surabaya Robby

Hi Ken,
Just keep your styles on the floppy.
As your favorite setting is "C" , keep using this setting, adjust with "transpose" to the level of your voice i.e. minus 2 and then add this indication in your style description i.e. Bolero -2. Give it a try.

Regards, Rob - Amsterdam - Holland.
