WHEN I TRIED TO LOAD MY STYLE FILES FROM MY PSR S900

TO MY PSR 550 IT SAYS "DISK ERROR"..BUT SOMTIMES IT WORKED..SO WHAT AM I TRYIN TO SAY IS,
SOME FILES CAN BE DOWNLOADED BUT SOME OF THEM ARE NOT.
IT WILL SAY "DISK ERROR" ON MY PSR 550.
SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISH..BUT I HOPE UNDERSTAND
WHAT IM SAYIN..THANX IN ADVANCE!!

I have installed a pen drive system in my PSR 550 in lieu of floppy drive.
But it is not working.

Try formatting the USB stick in your machine instead of your pc.........Hold down both buttons of the emulator whilst switching the power on this switches the emulator into format mode, this is the way I did it and it worked.

Hi Lelum,

You have to be a bit more precise with your question. Are the internal styles/voices of the PSR1000 not working or are they 'imported' voices/styles from another keyboard.
If for instance you are trying to load some styles from the PSR S910 or the TYROSIII you have to convert them as they are in a different 'format'. That is possible in many cases and I will tell you how when that is the problem. If styles are TOO BIG like over about 70kb, you have to make them smaller as mentioned before.

Hi,

The styles you are trying to load into the PSR550 are too big. The 550 has a limited memory and only 2 intro's and endings and the 900 has 3.
What you can try is:
Go to psrtutorial.com and find Michael Bedesem's wonderful program (FREE) style-updater. With this program you can take out for instance intro and ending C and that will make your style smaller.
In many cases (BUT NOT ALL) the style will fit in your keyboard.
Give it a try!

Dear readers and musical friends,

For use in a keyboard you need a modification AND an extra switch on an emulator.
To make clear!!
This forum or I have nothing to do with Yamaha or any other brand or vendor. I am only a great Yamaha fan an a keyboardist for years.

As far as I know, and it has been tested and used by me for well over a year and EVERY day extensively, the emulator that works in a keyboard is the one with 2 small push-buttons AND the BIG (RED)push-button on the right-side!
Without this extra switch it will probably work in a computer, embroidery or other machines but it will most likely NOT work in a music-keyboard.
Most keyboards use a slightly different protocol to communicate with a drive!!

I write for a few keyboard-fora and quite often I got mail or questions from people who bought the wrong model from Internet and complain that it doesn't work... what to do now.
I can't help them, so you better BE WARNED!

There are many possibilities why floppies don't work. You have to be a bit more precise and you didn't mentioned your model keyboard.
I am a bit tired of guessing.

I was looking for a way to change a floppy port to a usb port as I was trying (ASR) to use auto system recovery that my computer has. The only problem the program was 500 Meg large and I could not put that on floppies disks. I figured out another way to my problem I just bought another hard drive and loaded my operating system on the drive and then put in my old hard drive and it now was my D: drive and to removed all my files.

Since a short time it is possible for any floppydrive-keyboard to change to USB which can hold a max. of 100 floppies. I did it with my psr2000 and I am VERY happy with it.

I have a Yamaha PSR 550. When I bought a FC5 pedal for that its not working with PSR 550. I went for the keyboard compitition most of them are using PSR 900 with FC5. But when i bought FC 4 and play the key board its not work like PSR 900 with FC5 why?

Dear Suvendiran: I presume the two pedals mentioned are Sustain types? If so, try doing the following: a)Plug in the pedal BEFORE TURNING ON THE KEYBOARD, b)DO NOT PRESS THE PEDAL AFTER MAKING THIS CONNECTION, c)TURN THE KEYBOARD ON, d) PLAY PART OF A MELODY WITHOUT PRESSING DOWN ON THE PEDAL, e)PRESS DOWN ON THE PEDAL AS YOU CONTINUE PLAYING THE MELODY.

Hi Muthu,

First of all, if I see your picture it is PSR S550 and not the older model PSR 550.
Alfred has set you on the right track, there you should get and answer AND ONLY there.

I would like to add something in general for everybody who reads this post.
This forum has members from all over the world and prices for keyboards, new or second hand, are VERY different in the various country's. It does not make much sense to ask on this forum about prices or the value of a keyboard.
The best way yo find out is to place adverts or ask for info in the place where you are.
I live in Bali and have NO idea of prices in Iceland or South Africa or Mexico.
