Yamaha Motif ES6 Review
Ok. Let's take a look at the Yamaha MOTIF ES6 61-key music production synthesizer. The price alone is already a good indicator of the kind of keyboard we're talking about. It sells for as much as 1700 bucks online.
If you want a top of the line keyboard and you're ready to spend for it, consider the ES 6 keyboard. If you're in search of unprecedented performance and expressive control, give this keyboard a try.

Let's talk about its features for a while. They include 61 keys, 175MB wave ROM, 1,859 waveforms, 1,024 voices, 65 drum kits, 20 reverb types, 49 chorus/delay types, 8 types of mastering effects, 128 note polyphony, a 5-band master equalizer, an Advanced Phrase Factory arpeggiator, newly developed synth engine, and a Mega Voice system for samples. I could go on and on talking about the features of this impressive instrument but I'll let the folks at Yamaha do that.
Let me talk about my personal impressions of the instrument. As far as I'm concerned, the Yamaha MOTIF ES6 61-key music production synthesizer is worth every penny. There's so much that you can do with this keyboard. I've had this keyboard for a while now and it's like everyday I'm learning something new about it. And the more time I spend going through its various features the more I get to like it. No matter what kind of music I'm creating the Yamaha MOTIF ES 6 always seems to have the voices I need. I like the fact that it has so many contemporary voices and is able to handle today's music, particularly hip hop.
The MOTIF ES 6 keyboard is great out of the box. You don't have to do too much to the effects at all. The sounds seem processed enough. And despite all the amazing features on this keyboard it is not intimidating at all. Actually, when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. A kid can easily begin playing this keyboard in minutes, right from the box.
If you have any experience with the MOTIF ES6 keyboard I'm sure you will agree with me when I talk about the implementations of the GM instruments, and how great they sound. You want instruments that truly sound like live instruments? You've got it. I just love the sound engine on this Yamaha synthesizer. The patches are nice and full and the effects are truly inspiring.
Personally, I saw no need for tweaking them, but for those who like to do their own tweaking to suit their personal tastes, the Yamaha MOTIF ES6 allows you do that easily.
Perhaps you've heard about how difficult it is to read the grey writing on the category search buttons when lights are low. However, there's a solution to that. All you have to do is set your sounds in the order that you need them via the Master Mode.
For the price, this is a must have. I'm sure you'd like to compare it to other keyboards in its price range. But as this ES6 review suggests, I'm sold.
The Motif ES7 has 76 keys while the Motif ES8 has 88 weighted keys.
