Yamaha MM8 Volume and Distortion

When turning my volume knob all the way, I get a loud distortion.

Is it my volume control?

Its probably the volume control pot it gets a little dirt/dust inside and thats why it does that. I own a PSR 550 model and mine does the same. But its OK once u arrive at correct volume setting it operates fine. Dont worry about it for now.
