Midi not responding on Yamaha Clavinova

Set up midi on a Casio keyboard to check signals are being sent and revived, the move midi cable to Clavinova clip 860, set switch at back to midi and switching on midi function F8 to yes. Absolutely no sound through the piano. Now thinking midi is not working on the Clavinova. Don’t know what to try next - any suggestions welcomed.
