16 track recording on new Yamaha CLP 575

I just bought a new CLP 575 and I'm having problems working the 16 track recording. I follow the instructions and record L, R, then Extra. Each time I record a new track the display shows a dot beside the tracks already recorded, but on saving and playing back, only the L and R play, none of the Extra tracks. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, my dealer is completely in the dark on the subject and the manual isn't too user-friendly in this regard.

Does anyone know of any instructional videos on you-tube etc? Or is anyone well-versed in the use of the CLP recording?
